Bringing the Community Together

Events are a big part of how we raise awareness, build relationships, and fund our work at Loaves and Fishes. Our Chair Lesley is frequently found at youth groups, nurseries, schools, churches, community groups, businesses and everywhere in between. She can provide an information stall, presentations, formal or informal speeches. This is her favourite thing to do! From small get-togethers to large community days, each event is a chance to connect with supporters, share what we do, and raise vital funds for helping those most in need in the community.  Our Greenhills Hub Opening

In June 2025, we celebrated the opening of our Loaves and Fishes Community Hub in Greenhillswith a day that will stay in our hearts forever. The centre was opened by our founder, Geordie Aitken’s, children. It was an honour to have them with us and part of this new chapter. Our volunteers worked incredibly hard to make this happen and its success was a reflection of their dedication, hard work and love for Loaves and Fishes.

 Afternoon Tea Success

Our Afternoon Tea fundraiser last year was also a great success — a wonderful day of laughter, delicious bakes, and community spirit, all in support of our work. We raised vital funds to help keep our services running and plan to hold this event again later in the year!

School Uniform Events

We run school uniform events throughout the year. We have a selection of new and used uniforms for most local schools and plenty of varied colours and ages. We can also supply lunch boxes, water bottles, pencil cases and stationary when it is available.

This event is available for anyone who needs it, not just customers who use the food bank. We have an event in March and just before school starts in the summer. We do, however, have these items available throughout the year. Just ask!

Please bear in mind we are always looking for donations of school uniforms, just get in touch if you have any you may not require and we are happy to collect.
