About Us
Loaves and Fishes is a registered charity foodbank which helps prepare weekly food parcels for those in East Kilbride and Strathaven. Please watch our introduction video which was an appeal delivered to the schoolchildren of East Kilbride by our Chair Dominic Everett and Vice Chair and Charity Co-ordinator Lesley Davidson. This video serves to give a full overview of the services that Loaves and Fishes offer and how your kind donations can make a real difference for helping those in need.
Everyone in our organisation is a volunteer. We currently have 34 volunteers. Our volunteers do a number of things for us to allow us to support those in need.
- Make up food parcels for our service users
- Collect food and toiletry donations
- Sort food and toiletries items for the food bank
- Answer the phone & help our service users
- Help with basic administration of the food bank, website and email
- Assist in distribution and sorting Christmas toy and gift parcels
We are located at 40 Singer Road, East Kilbride Industrial Estate, G75 0XS.
Our Services
What We Do
Many rely on us because traditional support systems are not working. They may come from broken homes, suffered an illness that prevents working, debt or just struggling to cope with daily life. These are some of the things we do to help those in our community.
We help people with food and the basic necessities including toiletries, cleaning supplies, baby needs and feminine hygiene products.
We also distribute parcels to those we hear about through our various contacts, such as social work departments, who rely on us to support the people they look after. We have different sizes of boxes available for various appetites, from individuals to families.
Every year we provide Christmas food parcels and toys for children, gifts for young people and adults. Due to new GDPR regulations, you will need to come into the food bank to sign up to receive your parcel. Please contact us for more information.
