URGENT! Call Out for Protective & Sanitising Supplies

We are putting measures in place so we can get food and supplies to those in need and reopen the food bank as soon as possible.

To do this, we are asking the public, supermarkets, shops, and health care providers if they can spare the following:

  • Protective masks – still sealed
  • Hand gloves – L
  • Dettol or other antibacterial spray
  • Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant liquid equivalent
  • Liquid soap
  • Hand sanitiser
  • New /unused bags for life or heavy duty supermarket bags

This will allow us to deep clean the food bank, provide protective packs to our service users, provide protection to volunteers, and to get food and supplies out to the community.

Please contact us directly via email if you are able to help with any of these products and we can arrange collecion or drop off.

We thank you for your for your continued support and understanding as we do our upmost to keep our volunteers, service users, and members of the public safe.

Closure from 17 March until further notice due to COVID19

We have made the difficult decision to close the food bank and the sit down meals at the Renfield Centre are also suspended.

This is due to the growing concerns over the spread of COVID19.

We take the safely and health of our service users, volunteers, and the public who support us, very seriously. We have taken this measure to protect our community from further spread of the virus.

We will not be able to collect any donations during our closure

We will not be able to answer the food bank phone

We will not be able to deliver food or take any requests for deliveries

We ask that any service user and those who are at risk or show symptoms, to please follow all guidance given by the NHS and World Health Organisation.

We ask that organisations and the public to hold on to donations, if you can. As stock is low in shops, we are taking cash donations so we can purchase essential items when stock returns.

For more information on cash donations please see here.

We will post on our Facebook pages and our website once we have made the decision to open again. Please check periodically and pass this information to those in need.

We thank you for your understanding and patience whilst we get through this.

How can you help? Donations at all time low

The Corona Virus has caused an increased demand for goods across the sector.

We are struggling to receive food donations to provide complete food parcels for all service users.

As stock is low in the shops, we are not receiving food donations. We are asking the public if they can help with cash donations. This will allow us to purchase food and essentials once stock becomes available.

Click the link below for more information on how to help.

This is a very challenging time and we appreciate your understanding and patience.

Statement regarding Corona Virus & Loaves and Fishes Food Bank

We advise all service users to follow all NHS and World Health Organisation guidance to stop the spread of the virus.

This allows the food bank to stay open and keep our volunteers safe.

We are not able to extend our deliveries during this time – please do not ask as this put immense pressure on our delivery driver.

Please be aware that we may have to close at very short notice due to government guidance and advice AND stay closed for the health and safety of our service users and volunteers.

We will notify service users via social media and our website should we need to close.

This is an emergency pandemic and we are taking this very seriously

Statement regarding Corona Virus & Loaves and Fishes & food parcels

The Corona Virus has caused an increased demand for goods across the sector.

We are struggling to receive food donations to provide complete food parcels for all service users.

From 16 March we will need to ration items in order to maintain stock.

We request that all service users adhere to our food parcel guidance: we will not exchange food, take special requests (unless you have dietary needs).

Please do not question our volunteers about food in your parcel as we have rationing in place.

This is a very challenging time and we appreciate your understanding and patience.

Appeal for donations – more items added to our ‘What we need’ list
